At the beginning of the program, I could not recognize or identify the ASCA Student Standards or what student services were. As I progress within the program, I can appropriately identify what is and is not considered direct and indirect services for students, understand which standard should align with the classroom lesson, and use the standards appropriately within the small-group or individual counseling setting.

Evidence-based counseling strategies, such as coping skills and “breaks,” are great interventions for students who may struggle in a classroom setting and need support throughout the day.
